Did my PT before my run for a warm up.

My first mile I felt like I was running a good strong pace.  I couldn't believe it was a 10:25 pace...I thought for sure it was more like 9:40.  Funny how things seem different some days.

I eventually progressed and increased my speed so I was actually running a 9:40, but it took a couple of miles.  I'm trying not to over-do it or push too much so the knee can strengthen & heal without being abused.  The run felt good, and I feel great.  No knee problems today.

Update on the man shot on the running trail.  The trail was actually closed to runners/walkers/bikers (there were signs posted) for hunting that day.  A couple of hunters had just "jumped" a deer and it was running out of it's hiding spot when they shot at it.  Except one of the guys didn't shoot the deer, he shot the runner.  They called 911, but the guy died.  I guess it's his fault for being on the trail when it was closed.

Interesting about the runner, goes to show you that you should follow posted signs "Beware of Signs!"

I'm glad things felt better today. Maybe as far as training goes you could move to the 1/2 in Feb (if you're already signed up for the full). Then work on an alternating days schedule - quality over quantity on the miles and shoot for a 1/2 PR? Because it seems like if you give your knee at least a full day of recovery from a run it doesn't bother you as much. I don't know, just scraping the bottom of the barrel here...

Oh man. That is incredibly sad.

RAD - Beware of Burt.

That stinks for that poor runner and his family. I'm glad it wasn't something criminal though. Glad your knee is behaving.

Are you bracing yourself for some ice and snow?

QP - seems odd, crazy hunting, gotta get that deer, runners are so powerful, strong willed, superior, yet, so open to the world of trouble. Running is a life experience like no other.

Stay Kool, safe, b of bs rools out

glad to hear you knee is better

You probably heard about the crazy shooting in Tucson today.

RAD- I think you're right about day on day off & going for the 1/2. It's hard to admit defeat, but I have to do it for de-knees.

BURT- I did see your Tuscon shooting news...gives hunting season a whole new meaning

TERRI- I think Monday will be our bad weather day. Hoping to get out and run before it's too much to handle.

BRENT- I think sometimes as runners we think we're infallable. People around here are blaming the folks who maintain the trails. They say they don't "see the signs." I'm not sure I agree..I've been there, I've seen the signs, and even after having driven 40 minutes to get there, chose to run somewhere else. If you're going to use the trail, you're going to need to be responsible and read the signs posted at the trail head. It IS in the middle of the woods!

okay, sorry, crazy rant over. I just don't want the trail closed because people aren't responsible. It's a good trail with good hills.
