My hip and leg were really irritated yesterday, through the night, and still this morning.  I don't know what it is that's irritated, but it starts inside my but/hip area and radiates down the side of my leg.  I wonder if it's the piriformis Ive read about.

Either way, I decided this morning that since I really don't have any actual races scheduled until May, I'm going to give it a break for a while and work on strengthening exercises, elliptical, or just rest.  I noticed it didn't bother me as much last week when I was decreasing my mileage for the taper, so I'm hoping "easy does it" will be the key to getting rid of the pain.

My home-made make-up marathon will have to wait.  I don't see the point in pushing an injury so I can say "I did it."   I got my finisher's medal from Myrtle Beach in the mail yesterday.  It's cute....I just wish I would have earned it. (another time, right?)

I think your plan of taking a bit of a break and working on strengthening etc. is a good one. We can't push ourselves to run big miles year round. Occasional breaks are good.

QP - crazy is as crazy does - idea - go run the Myrtle Beach course, why not? Make that medallion count. I have been known for some crazy running things at race - ran a 5K in 100 degree heat on the 4th July, ran a 20:10 and was upset I did not break 20, waited for everyone to leave, ran the course again (I was so darn mad at not breaking 20) ran the second in in exactly the same time 20:10. Almost tried it a 3rd time - Crazy is as crazy does.
