tried getting out early, but something came up- so I started 10 min late (4:40).  I made up most of the time, and only got home 3 min late.  Not too shabby.  Of course after stretching and rolling around on that silly foam roller, my morning was gone, no time for breakfast or a nap.  Althought I do believe somewhere in the midst of praying, I may have dozed off for a minute or two.  I'm hoping He understands.

Ran a route that connects my two spokes, so it was a loop.  Only 1/2 mile of out & back near my house.  Hated trying to find a pace.during the first few miles.  I used my Garmin to help me out.  I was cursing it the first 45 minutes, but in the end was glad I used it.  I need to focus on finding my race pace and practicing it.  I think today was a little faster than I'm going to shoot for, but at least it was fairly consistent (just under 9mm).

One scary part of the run... on the connector section.  There is a swamp, and the road runs next to it/through it.  No lights at all, lots of trees (so no moonlight), and my wild imagination.  I ran right in the middle of the road so no alligators or snakes would come out of the swamp at me.  It's only .25 miles long, but it seemed to go on forever.  Car lights would have been good, but then I would have been too close to the swamp.  In the daylight, this is one of my favorite places to run past because of the beautiful lilly pads among the cypress trees.  Night time is a whole different creature.

The moon was lovely.  It was setting just as I was finishing up.  I was glad I'd been out and had the chance to see it floating among the clouds.  Most of the world missed the beauty.  Lucky lady pirate today- moon treasures and no alligators.

After work 7.7 miles on the bike.  nice ride- so refreshing.

I've honestly been missing my quiet morning runs and enjoying the sunrise that so many miss in their hurried mornings. I'm glad that you got to be Lucky Pirate Lady today :)

I always hear/see mtn lions stalking me when I run up in the dark dirt roads above me - that darkness plays with your mind!

Nice work keeping those paces where you want them. I hope I can keep up with you in the race!

oh stop...you could kick my trash if you ran backwards with a rock tied to your neck.

but you can pretend like it's a challenge when you're with me. I won't even make you wear the rock :-)

Question:

Which would win in a fight? A mountain lion or an alligator?

From RAD on Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 15:14:16 from 67.172.229.125

hmmm...Which one is wearing the rock?

(I'm just hoping to finish out the 26.2 just 6 weeks after SGM, I don't think I will be very fast at all!! I may have to tie myself to a mtn lion and have him chase you so I can get to the finish).

"There's your mountain lion." - Where the Red Fern Grows

Cursing the Garmin for 45 minutes? Hate to see what you would have done if you didn't start your day out with prayer.

you are cracking me up! i would do the exact same thing if i were running in the swamplands! did you have your headlamp on? i think i'd have to bring a whole spotlight for that section! i'm paranoid to walk from my house to my car (15 feet) when it is dark. i can't imaging doing that! kinds like my rapist loop. i didn't see a thing, but freaked myself out enough to never run that alone at night again!

The full moon gets all kinds of creepy things on the move...including your imagination. I don't mean your imagination is creepy, I just mean you are imagining creepy things.

As long as they stay in your imagination and don't materialize, you will be just fine.

RAD- you're wearing the rock, of course. Haven't I always said you're my rock? No?

Mountain lions are good motivation. I could tie a bag of fruit loops to your back and tell you it was Columbian bam bam and the cops are chasing you....

it worked for Ricky Bobby!
