morning came too soon today.  I got 4 miles in the hood today.  I felt let down that there was high cloud cover, so no stars shining on my shoulders.  And the inevitable finally happened- when I finished my run, it was still dark outside.  No sunrise on the horizon.  I knew it was coming, but why did it have to be on a Monday??

I almost ran into a middle school student.  he was walking along a very dark section of the road and I was wearing my red lamp, which I had pointed down at the road just then because it was so dark and I knew it was a cruddy section of asphalt.  I'm sure he saw me running, but I did not see him coming.  Luckily he was just a kid going to the bus stop, but it made me realize I would have been caught off guard by someone with more sinister plans.  I hate that running has turned into a workout balanced around fear.

A girl was attacked on her bike a couple weeks ago, Terri was "flashed," friend got hit by a car.... just too much bad stuff in such a short time.  Maybe with winter coming, the crazies will stay inside with colder weather.  Maybe.

Hope to get a run in home today as long as the weather cooperates.  I left my watch at home charging, so it should be a nice run with no worries because I can just imagine I'm going super fast :-)

Got to run 5 in the evening with Wyatt.  Super-duper good times!

So sorry you had to run in the dark alone! When I started running 7 years ago, I'd run alone without ever worrying about the crazies. Couple years later, one of my running friends was "flashed" and I have had my share of being "ran over" by rude construction workers and "cat-called". It's a jungle out there! Stay safe, my cute pirate! :)

I wish so badly you lived here so we can run together.

I wish I could transport myself to UT for daily runs. Maybe the universe will be good to me and send me another early morning running buddy.

Move back here...I'll run with you :)

I hate that running has become so fearful too. The older (and wiser) I get, the more anxious I get about running alone. Especially in the dark. I remember being 17 and fearless. HA!

I hope your afternoon run has gone well!

Freedom, let in ring, weirdos go to siberia - I guess run with mace or find a running group. The stars will again lite your way. We had a women attacked on the JRP last year, less than a mile from my house. I always make Sylvie run with our dog, she has a very scary bark and will lick the skin off anyone.

QP, hand in there, be careful
