Oh the joy of early, early runs.  No moon, music maker is broken, and my knee is finding new ways to try and torment me.  Other than that, it was really nice outside today and the run ended up being good.  4 -6 am & 55 degrees.

Knee was sore from Saturday's run.  Doesn't usually do that, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  At mile .5, I had to stop & stretch out my quad & re-adjust the knee band.  It was great until I started going downhill just after mile 2.  Lots of stopping, stretching, adjusting.  Took a long time to sort it out and run.  I was wondering if I was going to just have to walk home...very disappointing.

Finally got that straight, and it was good again until I was running a turn at mile 4.3.  Same thing, stretch/adjust, walk a little, and then I was running again.  Didn't bother me much at all after that.  And it felt fine when I got home.. I just don't know about that silly knee.

At the mile 4.3 stretch, I forgot to re-start my garmin, and didn't notice until I was at mile 6.  Luckily, I knew how many miles I'd gone, and how many more I needed to go, so I just pressed lap and went from there.   Avg pace for the miles I had the garmin on was 9:08.  I am fairly certain the 1.6 miles I missed were around a 9:15-9:20 pace.  Over all tempo run with paces increasing most of the miles.

Hoping to make it through the work day without falling asleep.

Just trying to keep you awake.

you STARTED running at 4AM? I seriously don't know how you do it. Maybe that was why the knee was in such protest, it was telling you to go back to bed :)

Take care of it though, no backing out of OBX now! It just wouldn't be the same without you. Nice pace for the 12 miles though, that really is a nice long run for a Monday morning!!

Just set an alarm clock under the desk and sleep on your lunch break...oh, wait, you don't get a lunch break :)

Sorry about that silly knee. I hope it behaves. I definitely would have been napping at work if I was you (or raiding the cafeteria).

QP - sleep running, love those early morning runs, but, don't know how you can run tempo miles in the dark, good job. Keep you little shipmates learning to become good pirates.

BURT- boo-hoo...you scared me!!

RAD- I'm certainly not backing out of OBX. I tried taking a 10 minute nap in the staff lounge, but the older ladies were there & they talk LOUDLY.

TERRI- thanks, I think the knee's just been a little cranky with me since the 12 hour run. I guess that's probably normal. I had to raid the cupcakes on top of the microwave in the lounge today... you know how I am with cake :-) "There will be NO survivors"

Brent- Pirates are good at lots of things in the dark!! I do actually enjoy the early mornings. Not the sleepy afternoons as much. Especially the ones with buckaneers that need to walk the plank.
