Found out at 3:30 am that the city had decided to cancel the race because of snow.  So when my alarm went off at 5 am, I just went back to sleep.

3.5 inches of snow total.  I think a 2 hour delay would have been fine, but I understand they are not prepared for slushy roads down here.  The hotel has a nice indoor pool, and I will enjoy a nice week-end get away.

Always another day for another race.

It's probably for the best. Enjoy your weekend getaway. Are they refunding the race entry fees or rescheduling the race?

I'm still stinked about it! I'm glad you've got a better attitude than I do :) Plus, you've got some other good 'marathons' to tackle today! 26.2 of everything as a celebration! Maybe as a family we can do 26.2 in your honor :) Have fun at the pool and enjoying the good company there!!

What a bummer to train so hard and then have it canceled. I hope you were still able to have a good day. I had a friend running the Myrtle Beach marathon that was canceled today, was that the same one as you?

Michelle- same race.

Carolyn- there's some talk of refund, but I'm not expecting anything. I'd be happy with a good discount on next year's registration.

RAD-the pool was really nice and warm. There were kids who would run out to the ocean, jump in, and then run back to the indoor pool. It was fun to watch, but I wasn't going to do it!!

We read that they'd given away the medals at the offical after party from 4-7 tonight. We don't "do" parties like that, so we missed out on getting our medals. I think I'm more disappointed about that than anything else. I hope they'll have one left over that I can track down tomorrow.

There aren't any close by full marathons planned any time soon except for the one week-end I already have plans for the next 4 months. I wonder what I should focus on now.

QP - there is always another race, hey, if there is a will, there is a way, sneek in a marathon, you are trained and ready. There must be someway you can juggle your schedule. You have a good attitude about the situation.

Hi y'all... what a great week-end. I realized that I get to run everyday, but it's only once in a blue moon I get to enjoy a vacation at the beach with my family.

We went searching for seashells in the dark, and then again the next morning. Lots of time in the hot tub and on the indoor lazy river....

I think I might just try a do a hometown marathon in a few weeks. I'll recruit people to run parts of it with me, and it will be great fun.

On a side note, I believe they're going to mail us our medals. I didn't really even think I wanted mine until I heard other people had picked theirs up at the post race party...and then I got jealous. So I'll have to etch a big snowflake on the back of it!
