eh- can't remember what all I did this day, but I know I ran one mile & it felt good so I decided to run again on Saturday.

Nice cool weather made for a wonderful run.  Just went slow and easy.  After a mile, I had troubles with my knee.  I stopped, stretched it, fiddled with my knee band, tried to adjust my gait, and by mile 4, the troubles were history & I enjoyed the run without any problems at all.  It's nice to be back running again.  Sleeping in was wonderful all week, but I like running :)

Ran with Wyatt.  Wonderful company.  We missed a week or two, and had a lot of catching up to do.  Time flew by.

Well folks, I hope you enjoyed that little commercial sleeping in break brought to you and sponsored by my mattress and pillow, but this morning, we are going to resume our regulary scheduled program.......

It was 4:40 by the time I got warmed up & out the door.  The temps were a glorious 54 degrees, with little clouds in the sky, a beautiful slice of a waning crescent moon, and more stars that I can shake a stick at.  Perfect fall running weather!

I ran slow.  I wasn't in a hurry, I was just enjoying the run (except the small little section that goes by the swamp and doesn't have any lights....and then I hurried toward the lights).

The dog that chased me off the road when I was riding my bike a few weeks ago showed up again this morning running out into the road and barking/chasing after me.  A little spray in his general direction sent him back to his own yard to bark at me from a distance.  I yelled at him before I sprayed him, but he didn't understand what "GO HOME" meant.  I guess he doesn't speak english.

My tempo increased as I ran, turned into a great progressive run.  Avg pace was 9:22.

SHRUB day might turn into a SHRU day because I don't think I'll be biking this afternoon.  Bigger fish to fry with a birthday dinner for my son.  I'm pretty sure we'll be hogging it up at the Red Lobster's shrimp feast.  Can't wait.

I did the Shred video, and ran 2 miles early so I could get ready and make a run to Walmart for birthday cupcakes & some bojangles boberry biscuits for breakfast.  The cupcakes were for seminary..always good to load them up with sugar & fats at 6:30 in the morning.  Then we came home & ate the biscuits.  This is going to be a bad day for my "eating like an athelete" goal.  But hey, it's probably his last birthday with us before he goes off to big, scary world of college & real life.  So I'm going to enjoy it.  Biscuits, Shrimp, Cupcakes & all!

tempo run. 45 degrees (I loved it!!!) 4:30..no moon. I was seriously worried about how all that butter I ate last night was going to affect my run. It seemed to help- huh. Who knew? The secret to running strong is eating a pound of butter the night before :-)

avg pace 8:52. splits were: 10:11, 8:47, 8:57, 8:52, 8:56, 8:44, 8:47, 8:47, 8:52, 8:30, 7:15(last .5).

new batteries in the headlamp this morning- WOW it was bright!

I guess it's just a GA run.  9 miles.  4:40 am.  No moon, 50 degrees, but it felt colder than yesterday when it was 46.  Maybe my shorts were just shorter...

Just had to sleep this morning.  Weeks like this where I'm running 9-10 miles in the morning require more than 6 hours of sleep a night.  I was SO unproductive yesterday because I was too tired to focus on anything except not falling asleep.  Need to re-asses bed time.

Thank goodness for cooler weather.  We got to sleep in and didn't have to start at 6 am to beat the heat.  [We met at 7 to start instead :-) ]. Avg pace 9:52.

We ran some of Wyatt's running area and some of mine too.  On our recon drive to drop off some h2o on the side of the road, we noticed that the Baptist church was having a fall harvest festival- so we packed a couple of dollars hoping for a bake sale treat on our run.

We got there around mile 10 and I went to see what they had.  It was a bbq plate dinner sale, and the desserts came with a meal.  I explained that we couldn't really buy a meal just then because we were running.  So they offered to let me just take dessert.  I left a donation for the biggest brownie they had.  It was delicious and great fuel for the rest of the run.  We shared it, and it was plenty.  One lady there asked me if I needed something to drink and I told her no, I had my water bottle.  She said, "do you need any more?" to which I answered, "No thank you, we've only got 5 miles left."   As I was walking away with my prize winning brownie, Wyatt overheard her telling the others "They ONLY have 5 miles left!!"  It made us smile.  The nice lady tried to hug me too- bad idea on her part because I sweat like a pig.  Sorry about the sweaty hug- and thanks for the brownie.

And if the run couldn't have gotten any better, we ran by the house that has 2 old hearses in their yard.  Year round, there are little tombstones in front of one of them, but it's in the back of the side yard and I couldn't get it in the picture.  However, in the front of their house, they have probably 8-10 ghosts up on wooden posts along the road.  We HAD to stop and get some pictures.  My favorite is of Death with the nosy horse in the back ground.  He was over on the other side of their pen, but when I went to get the pix, he had to follow me & get in the photo too.  You can see one of the hearses behind the blue car in the first pix.  I love this yard!

Oh the joy of early, early runs.  No moon, music maker is broken, and my knee is finding new ways to try and torment me.  Other than that, it was really nice outside today and the run ended up being good.  4 -6 am & 55 degrees.

Knee was sore from Saturday's run.  Doesn't usually do that, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  At mile .5, I had to stop & stretch out my quad & re-adjust the knee band.  It was great until I started going downhill just after mile 2.  Lots of stopping, stretching, adjusting.  Took a long time to sort it out and run.  I was wondering if I was going to just have to walk home...very disappointing.

Finally got that straight, and it was good again until I was running a turn at mile 4.3.  Same thing, stretch/adjust, walk a little, and then I was running again.  Didn't bother me much at all after that.  And it felt fine when I got home.. I just don't know about that silly knee.

At the mile 4.3 stretch, I forgot to re-start my garmin, and didn't notice until I was at mile 6.  Luckily, I knew how many miles I'd gone, and how many more I needed to go, so I just pressed lap and went from there.   Avg pace for the miles I had the garmin on was 9:08.  I am fairly certain the 1.6 miles I missed were around a 9:15-9:20 pace.  Over all tempo run with paces increasing most of the miles.

Hoping to make it through the work day without falling asleep.

got out early(4:10) for some speedwork. Warm up mile 10:06, then fast mile at 7:43, recovery 1/2 mile jog, fast mile 7:48. Speed was good, knee was good. I was supposed to run 11 total with 4 speed mile sessions.

Just after the second fast mile, I was just starting the slow down jog, and shazam! mis-stepped and my knee went ouch! That was the beginning of the end. I did all the stretches/walking/re-adjusting I could, but wasn't able to run without pain. I headed home to pull out the big guns- the super sized knee brace- and put it on. It offered a lot of relief, and as long as I didn't run too fast, all was good. I could feel the knee occasionally, but I could still run.

The walk home & stretching sucked up my time, so I only got to finish 9 miles. Knee felt pretty good at home. I'd taken a naprosyn before heading out. Iced the knee a little, and went to work. All was great until I tried the stairs. I guess all isn't good.

Gotta figure out what the crap I need to do to get the knee straight asap. Supposed to run 11 tomorrow and 20 Saturday. Considering resting for a few days and moving the 20 back another week.

Any suggestions?

The only reason I ran this "race" was to get a 1/2 day off work next month.  Yes, I can be bribed.  $22.50 for 1/2 day is obviously my going price.

Ran .5 warm up with just the knee band on.  It was touch & go with the knee, so I put the big knee brace on for the run.  We went slow & easy.  The course was the tough hill course downtown.  Good training, except when my knee hurts :-(

We still managed to pass people and came in under 30 min.  I was woman #25, Wyatt was #24.  No idea about other AG places.  Didn't hang around to find out.  Just wanted to go home and cry myself a river over my silly knee.

Got in a 22 mile bike ride.  8 miles were easy as I rode along side Wyatt as she ran.  The other 14 were good effort.  I think I'll be visiting my bike a little more often for a while.

25th out of all the women.  4th in my AG (10 year groupings)

Sleep is nice.  Got up and tried out a new pilates video.  It was just the intro video, so mostly instructions and some easy things to get started.  Only had knee pain once.  I'll try the "real" workout tomorrow.  I've got to do something in the mornings to wake myself up and shake off the grumpies.

Got a Dr. appt this morning.. This may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but in the military, getting an appointment any day, but especially Monday morning, is nearly impossible.  The appointment gods were smiling on me today.

Dr. is family practice, and has no idea what's up with the knee (not surprised), so she ordered x-rays today, I have to call & make an MRI appt tomorrow, and when those results come in, she feels like she'll be able to make an informed decision as to what physical therapy I need to pursue.  Feels like I'm standing at the bottom of a long road that goes straight up the mountain face.  But that's okay...I like to hike.

She thought elliptical might aggrivate it, and suggested recumbent bike.  I don't have access to one of those, so I'll just try the regular bike & hope for the best.  And I'll keep at that pilates stuff.

11.5 miles on the bike in the evening.  5 miles of good effort, the rest was just rollin' with Wyatt while she ran.

Went for an evening walk.  Back of the knee feels sore...like a muscle knot.

Got up early to knock out my Morning 9.  Warmed up my usual way, and started running slow.  Well, I didn't even get .25 mile.  Knee problems seemed to be back.  Can't figure it out.  So I walked a ways, then tried running a little.  This cycle continued for over a mile.  I was getting ready to give up & just walk for the 90 minutes I had.  Then, after a mile +, the easy run didn't hurt and I just kept on running.  I didn't want to stop & not be able to start again, so I just kept running.  Around mile 5.7, the muscle knot pain in the back of my knee was getting strong & I was near home, so I stopped and stretched out the back of my leg.  It felt great after I stretched, so I went off running again to finish my 90 minutes, and I was able to run better than I had for weeks.

What is up with this knee?

Avg pace was around a 9:40.  Certainly not the 9:20's I had 3 weeks ago, but I'm just thrilled to be running.

It was warm this morning at 4:30!  Low 70's.  At least the occasional wind was a welcome relief from the humid heat.

I guess it was a combination of the warm weather, sore muscles from shred & pilates yesterday, and the fact that my running has been off kilter for a couple of weeks, but it was a hard run.

My breathing felt hard, everything was just a struggle. BUT my knee (front & back) were good to me, so I can't complain.  Avg pace 9:30.

The battle of the bed was being featured in my room this morning.  Bed had me KO'd for a while and I was down for a 30 minutes count, but eventually I managed to get myself out of the headlock the pillow had on me and came out victorious.

Unfortunately, my early morning wrassle with the bed left me short on time, So I only had time for a 60 minute run.  Which was fine since I was still sore all over.  Avg pace was 9:20.

Knee was quiet for the most part.  Still warm in the 70's and it was sprinkling a little & humid.  Cooler weather is coming- so they say.

nice run.  cool weather is wonderful.  ran with wyatt.  lots of reasons to stop & walk once in a while.  one of them was my knee.  not 100% yet.  I know I'm asking too much too soon....but can't a pirate dream?

Wore my flourescent green fishnet stockings as we ran along the country farm roads.  Hey, it was my halloween run!  The annual halloween hustle was cancelled this year.  :-(

Avg pace 10:09 (just for the running parts).  New motto for the race:  more fun, less run.  That's my goal.  I seem to have no conrol over my knee at this point, so the only thing I do have control over is my attitude.

I'm really happy they have 7-11's near the race.  None near where I live, so I'm looking forward to a slurpee & maybe some icky chili cheese nachos....or dare I even dream of a chili cheese dog?????    Back to my dreams again....  now I feel more like Kermit the frog.  The lovers, the dreamers, and me.....
