yardwork and weeding for an hour or so, then a short 6-ish mile bike ride with mini-me

it was hot by the time I got out, and my head started to boil after just a couple miles.  I took a little walk and came back home to do housework :-(

Went for a short run with MR in the insufferable heat, then spent the remainder of the hottest part of the day watching 2 movies at the local dollar theater.  In my defense, it was about time I saw the Pirates movie :-)

just a little something to help me get going in the morning.  Rained on me for 5 minutes the first mile, which made the rest of the time  a rather humid sauna run.

cleaned up our bikes with some bug & tar remover in the afternoon. 6000 miles of bug carcases don't remove easily.  Most of them are gone :-)

Waited for some daylight before heading out,  so I didn't have to wear my headlamp.  It was more humid than hot, but after a mile I was warm and the humidity was icky.  I took a stretch break at mile 2 and headed back home.  Went for the overpass run today.  That one stinky little overpass kicks my trash.

Saw something terribly dead and squished, but could not identify.  So instead I have this to share:

It really wasn't as dark outside as it looks, just the angle makes it look that way.  In front of me was a corn field.  The corn stalks are all brown and dried up, but there is pretty purple morning glory growing among the stalks.  We've had a bunch of butterflies around here lately too.  Lots of little yellow and orange ones.

Ran 4 miles in the rain with Wyatt, then we walked for another mile.  Time went by so quickly having someone to chat with.

Going to go for a bike ride later on in the day, but more thunderstorms and rain kept me grounded.  Got to watch 2 movies Marie Antoinette and Million Dollar Baby .  Glad I bought the mega-pack of microwave popcorn.  The weather forecast looks dismal for the rest of the week.

Tried to run at the park while mini-me was at an appt.  Would someone please make the rain go to a place where they want and need it?  I swear I think I am living in the pacific northwest.  I really am tired of the clouds and rain.  I have mushrooms growing in my backyard for crying out loud!  At least the temperatures could be cooler- instead I just have a perpetual sauna.

I started out too fast, so my third mile was slow since it was uphill and I was tired.  Avg pace 9:40.

Got to wear my new shoes I bought yesterday.  It was about time too- 586 miles is too many miles on a pair of shoes for me.  When I put the new ones on, I realized how bad the old ones had gotten.  I kept waiting for some super deal to come along, or to find the same shoe I'd been running in on clearance.  But it wasn't meant to be.  I had to go try on a new model (which ended up fitting great, but I'm always nervous about new models) and pay through the nose for the shoes and the superfeet.  Happy Birthday money to me :-)

I ran on the trails with MR.  Some good hills, some sand, and a little bit of climbing up an embankment of shrubs because the road we were on just ended, and we didn't have time to back track.  I got 3 thorns embedded in my leg and felt super tough.

Overcast & humid, but breezy enough to make it feel nice enough to run at 630 in the morning.

Ran barefoot on the beach today.  The mileage is an estimate- I didn't track the distance or the time, so the mileage is my best guess.

The beach was very windy and strong rip currents today.  I wondered if it was due to some tropical storm somewhere churning up the ocean.  So I ran, and got to do a lot of reading and relaxing.  Perfect.

Went for a morning run by myself, and was delighted when I came home to find that MR had made me pancakes and eggs for breakfast!  Breakfast boy vs Water boy- I'm rooting for breakfast boy!!

I found a Virginia  license plate on the side of the road.  It expired in June 2012, so I decided it was fair game.  It's in my treasure box.  I felt silly running home with a full sized license plate in my hand, and was relieved when mini-me drove by on her way home and I could give it to her to take home.

Later in the day, I went for an easy bike ride with MR.  We got around 7 miles in.  Pretty good day!

Going to be a couple weeks off without running.  No big deal- just something I need to do.  It's my "sabbatical."

20 min warm up on elliptical followed by a slow & gentle 3 miles in the morning.  It was cloudy, so I didn't get to see the sun come up, or the moon out- but good things to look forward to!

2 mile walk in pm

running in the dark- foggy...stayed close to home

got some better times today, so glad to see something that resembles forward movement rather than swimming in sludge.

pm rain and working 90 min late kept my pm walk in the "Did not happen" box.

90 min elliptical.  I'd planned on running home from work, but I have a list of excuses why that did not happen:

1- rain, thunder, lightening........2- working an hour late.......3- feeling like an ulcer is eating my gut from the inside out...........4- still mad that someone ate all the biscuits by himself and I didn't get my breakfast sandwich I'd been dreaming about........5- headache from dealing with people who are sure the rules don't apply to them or their children, and they need to yell at me because their "specialness" was not properly acknowledged........6- having a job that requires me to use a computer all day and having a computer that only works 20% of the time

If I didn't feel physically ill, I could use a good run to pound #4 and #5 out on the pavement.  I'm going to take some tums and a nap instead.

Woke up at 4 and had to take a couple more tums. By 5:30 I was ready to run again.  It was dark, humid, and super foggy.  I put on my headlamp and green blinky light along with my reflective gear and headed out.  Beautiful in a quiet kind of way.

Good progressive run with some nice paces (for me).

Talked with a guy at work who ran 11 miles before work in the same fog.  He said at mile 7 he had to go inside and change his shorts and shoes because they were soaking wet.  All this at 6 am..  I remember a couple years ago running long distances like that in the morning.  I was almost jealous of his accomplishments this morning.  He was just starting to run a couple years ago.  He would ask me for advice, and now he's amazing.... cool to see him accomplish so much with his running and triathalons.  A lot like my RAD... just amazing!

Went for a walk with MR in the pm...2.5 miles.  I'm glad I ran in the morning because I was KO'd from the work stress again today.  I'm 4 for 4 of getting yelled at by mean people at least once a day this week.  Almost curious to see how Friday goes and what adventures it will bring.

I am ready for the weekend to take the Pirate ship out and wreak havoc on the high seas.  What I wouldn't give for a holocaust cloak...
