Great fun with the neighbors on the ride to & from the race, as well as at the race while we watched and commented on everybody that was running!  My favorite was either Hulk or the Spartans, who all took off running in ranks, with their red capes billowing behind them in the wind and their swords held high.

I never did actually see the frisbee guy who was running in body paint and had a frisbee tied on the front and a frisbee tied on the back.  Too bad for me.  Then there were these guys at the donut stop:

Does that tattoo on the guy's forearm actually say nerd?  I'm just glad that race bib is stragetically placed to cover his ranger panty squat.

MR ate his dozen (I only ate one donut & took the rest with me in a ziplock bag [thanks for the great ideas grandma]).  He actually finished before me- the run back is all uphill and he's a beast on the hills.  I struggled to catch up with him for almost 2 miles and had just about caught him, but was just a second or two behind.  Including the stop, I had a 9:49 average pace, but I did lap my "donut stop" time, which was over 9 minutes, so the average running was a much better pace... more like a 7:59 or something.

It was chilly to start, but so much better than last year with all of the rain.  I wore my FAT KIDS LOVE CAKE t-shirt and got a few comments out of it.  Evidently, it's acceptable to wear to a donut race, but not so much to Red Lobster for dinner at the all you can eat shrimp-fest.

Here's a pix of MR in his warrior skirt and helmut....

What a hottie.

I've been waiting for this one, and it didn't dissapoint - except that you took your donuts home :) I wanted more barfing stories :)

Love MR's outfit, and you know I want a 'fat kids like cake' shirt! I don't go to Red Lobster, so I won't get any dirty looks :)

That is awesome! What a fun race. Last time there was a dead raccoon. Any dead animals this time? And you didn't mention barf, puke, or vomit in your entire race report. That's a little disappointing.

QP - hey, dounuts? What the heck, puke city, how did you do it. that hottie looks alot like me in everyday garb.

Sounds like weird fun day -

RAD- you'd have to pry that shirt out of my dead frosting stained fingers first!

Chad- Last year it was a dead opposum that had been hit and his entrails were spread out on the road along side the little pools of vomit.

Brent- I didn't know you wore horn hats every day :-)

There was plenty of vomit to see and dodge, especially toward the end of the race. It was easier to see and run with this year because I wasn't on the verge of vomit-town myself. I wasn't a good place to be and I'll never visit again.

There are supposed to be buckets along the race route for vomit deposits, but I never saw any buckets, but I'm not sure I'd bother finding one if I was going to hurl anyway. It would take away from the ambiance.

I don't know what it more incredible / ridiculous - that the winner of this race can finish under 30 minutes, or that 4000 people subject themselves to this punishment! :-)

Pretty cool - seems like this race really brings out some characters!

From Chad on Tue, Feb 07, 2012 at 13:39:29 from 168.177.153.27

That's better.

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Feb 07, 2012 at 14:51:28 from 152.26.59.252

Jake- what is most incredible & ridiculous is the costumes people will wear to eat a dozen donuts. The parade of crazy is really what it's all about!

I saw that 5 of the top 10 female finishers were under the age of 20. What's up with that? Are they even old enough to appreciate it?

Chad- always a pleasure :-)

From Terri on Tue, Feb 07, 2012 at 19:14:45 from 72.66.72.85

Did they have anyone making sure you ate your whole dozen like last year?

Sounds like a fun day. Did you say your neighbors ran the race too?

QP- YOu always meet the nicest people, don't you :) I think Grandma would be proud to you hear travel around with an extra zip lock baggie in your purse. And, well I am so proud to hear that you are enjoying your new shirt.

RAD- I will see what kind of "special" shirt I can find for you.

Pure awesomeness.
