Warm up for a mile, then I ran a comfortable pace for the straight parts, and when there was a circle, or spoke off the main road, I would try and sprint on those parts.  They ranged from 460 feet to .38 of a mile.

average pace overall was just over 9.  I think my average slower running speed was around 9:35 and the average of my 8 sprints was 7:35.  My sprints last week were faster, and I wonder if I was slower today because I did speed work on Tuesday too.  Either way, I feel like I'm done with speed work for a while.  It felt good to do, but it wears me out more than my normal piddley-runs.

Not sure about the temp outside, but it had just sprinkled a little, and smelled like it was going to rain.  There's a word to describe the smell of "going to rain," but I can't remember it.  It's something you smell more often in the desert than out here..it was like comfort food for my nose.

didn't know there was a word for it, but I love that smell too!

Nice job on the sprints and overall pace, hope you got some sleep or a nap in there too!

I know the smell you're talking about.

Great job on the speed, but piddly runs are great too.

I had to find out what it was called...it was driving me crazy that I couldn't remember.

The word is "petrichor."

A wikipedia definition is Petrichor: pronounced /ˈpɛtrɨkər/; from Greek petros "stone" + ichor the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology
